• Let me start by saying I have done a search of the forum, but have not yet come across the same issue as I have.

When I try to upload an image onto my blog I get this error – Unable to create directory D:\Clients\CL719\cassandragrambau.com.au\public_html\blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/05. Is its parent directory writable by the server?

What does this mean and what do I do about it? I didn’t install wordpress myself, I got the wordpress install 4 free done, so have NO idea about much of it at all!

    Any help/advice appreciated.

  • You searched? i am honestly and NON_rudely curious what words you used in your search?

    Obviously not these:

Is its parent directory writable by the server?

Had you, there are hundreds of related threads.

For future reference, if and when you see anything that might look an error, even if its not, your best to use that exact error as a search term. That will help you a lot in the future, trust me, and there’s not much of chance that you will come across something that’s not already been covered.

Despite what might appear like a very diverse range of questions, 80% of them are the same series of questions asked over and over again. There arent a lot of unique questions or problems anymore.

Nope, didn’t look at that – didn’t even know what it meant! I used image and upload basically.

Thanks, will read some of the link now.

MY GOD! How is anyone supposed to understand any of this?!?

thats not an especially useful question. But to answer your question, nothing on this site is robot generated content. And understanding comes with reading, and doing.

That includes the Codex, the official WordPress documentation area.

That, above, is written by people that try their hardest to speak in layman’s terms. Conversely, though, you need to be aware that there IS going to learning curve if you plan on doing anything with WordPress.

While I understand the natural inclination to just expect that things work flawlessly without our having to learn anything, that’s not really how “technology” works.

I’m guessing you probably said something similar when you sat down at your first computer.

    I’m sorry, I know it wasn’t a useful question.

I am trying very hard to learn as I go along, it took me three months to learn enough to build my website – and I used frontpage! (you can laugh, I really am that pathetic).

I will take some more time to go over the information you have pointed me to before I ask any more questions.

Thanks for taking the time to post.

Listen Cassia, I have the exact same problem with the exact same error message. So was this every resolved?

    exact same error message?

than you ought to get the exact same link:
