"Unable to locate WordPress Content directory (wp-content)." on Self-Hosted Serv
-
Hi Guys,
I have a self-hosted Ubuntu server running ProFTPd for FTP access. The user account for this WordPress install is jailed to his home directory for FTP, and he owns all content in the
public_html
folder within that directory. The folder,public_html
, is the Apache root for the domain. The aforementioned user has write permissions on all files and folders that exist withinpublic_html
. (The Apache user,www-data
, is the group owner of that directory.)This particular WordPress install is located in a sub-directory of the
public_html
Apache root,public_html/new
.When I attempt to upgrade WordPress, it asks me for the FTP credentials. I enter the primary Apache domain (which is set to resolve to 127.0.0.1 in the server’s
/etc/hosts
file), as well as the username and password for the aforementioned user. I set it to connect via FTPS (SSL), and click Proceed.I am then greeted with the following error message:
Unable to locate WordPress Content directory (wp-content). Installation Failed
What am I missing here?
Thanks!
