• Hi folks,

generatedata.com is a site for developers who need custom-formatted data for testing software, etc.

I’ve used WordPress on a number of sites before, and knew this new site couldn’t do without it. Very handy tool.

To make it compatible with the rest of the site’s pages – which are all generated with Ajax page loads – I tweaked the WordPress code a little. So now, instead of loading particular pages, it calls JS functions which loads (and caches) the WordPress pages. Pretty neat, I think!

Note: it’s only for modern browsers. I figured the audience for the site are almost exclusively developers who are more technologically savvy than most (so fewer IE users ;-).

    All the best –

That’s OK, I’ll check out the site when there is a clickable link. [too lazy to copy/paste]

On the other hand I am amazed of all the “dev only” gizmos/sites around WP… popping up when it is becoming more and more popular among the absolutely non-techie users.

    Hey Moshu,

    Ah! Sorry about that:

And I haven’t heard of a non techie yet that needs random data for testing software… But that aside, I’m a web developer: I needed a place to experiment with Ajax, and this struck me as a good one, since the application itself was already heavy in JS and Ajax. Adding that requirement to the site that harboured it seemed a small sin.

    All the best –

Ooh… and I should probably expound on the browsers, in case I gave the impression that only NEW new browsers are required. Any of these are fine:

    IE 6.0+
    Firefox 1.5+
    Mozilla 1.7+
    Netscape 7+
    Safari 2.0+
    Opera 9+

(though it’s still a little glitchy here and there in Safari).
