• Hi there,

first of all thanks for contributing this really powerful plugin. I love its features and the way it structures things.

However, I have an issue working with groups. I created a few groups but I am not able to assign new redirects to them. New redirects are always assigned to the group with the lowest ID. I am able to change the assignment in the DB but not in the backend. I cannot see what is the correct way to do this. There is no dropdown when creating a redirect that specifies a group.

I would really appreciate any help on this matter.

    Thanks a lot,
    Best
    Felix

I’m stuck on the same problem, as I wanted to create a new group today, for a better structure.

    • Can’t find a way to assign a group when creating a new redirect
    • Can’t find a way to transfer redirects from one group to another

I’m sure (or at least I hope) I’m missing something obvious because without these two operations groups would be pretty pointless, no?

    Thanks for any hints

I’m having the same trouble- before the ‘wp-style’ redesign, there was an option in the Bulk Actions menu to move a redirect to a group. This doesn’t seem to be the case anymore.

Are you planning on putting this feature back in?

Also having this problem. Love the plugin, just looking for the groups feature to come online!

    It’s been disabled

Anyone know why it is disabled and wether it will be coming back?

Was one of the more useful parts of a really wonderful plugin.
I am guessing the auto group creation thing is good. But this means on a site with loads of redirects we have a two group structure with no way of changing the old ones.

    Thanks

When a developer removes previously well working features, this normally means that he is thinning out the code in order to maintain compatibility with the current WordPress, without actually updating the code.

This, in turn, could mean that the status of the plugin has changed from “actively developed” to “maintained”, or even “abandoned”. Also the fact that the author hasn’t commented on this 2-months-old thread points in that direction.

So, has anybody used/tried similar plugins? Which one is recommendable?

+1, I’m also experiencing this issue.

Looking at the plugin changelog, I don’t see anything that clearly states that ‘move-to-group’ functionality was disabled or removed.

It would be great to hear from @johnny5 about this feature and where it’s gone.

You can assign a group when creating a redirection, as shown here:

    Group 1

You can change the group a redirect is in by clicking the cog icon, and then picking the group:

    Group 2

ecdltf, I get pinged for each occurrence of the word ‘redirection’ in the forums, which is far more than I have the ability to check. The plugin is being actively refreshed and developed.

Thanks for the valuable info and sorry for the obviously premature conclusion I made 5 months ago.

For clarity- this was fixed in an update sometime after v2.3.16. Groups seem to be working fine now- this issue is resolved.

Just kidding- there still seems to be something weird. In my local WP install, I see the dropdown to pick a group both for new redirections and under the cog menu for existing redirections.

But on any of my AWS staging or production WP installs, I don’t have the group dropdown. Any idea what might be the difference?

I have verified I’m on the newest version of WP and of the Redirection plugin.
