Tennis Matches

I Made a season, created 9 teams (Players as it is singles) to each play 8 matches over 8 weeks.
I go to “add Matches” and it gives me 9 matches to complete for week 1. I should have 5 matches with one of them a bye week for one of the teams.
Help?
