• Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_json_encode() in D:\Hosting\10409328\html\wp-admin\includes\misc.php on line 668

This is the message I get when I logged into my Word Press account the first time after attempting to do the 4.1 update. I see many other people have this same issue. My site is https://www.skopelosbynina.com Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

    – Likely you’re dealing with an incomplete update.
    – Therefore, try MANUAL updating. Download a fresh copy of the WordPress .zip file to your computer, unzip it, and use that to copy up all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory. You may need to delete the old copies of files & folder on your server before uploading the new ones. Read the Manual Update directions first.
If you haven’t already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong.

The function “wp_json_encode” is defined in “wp-includes/functions.php” so maybe just replace it from the v4.1 zip file.

Attempted the MANUAL updating. After downloading WordPress 4.1 again and saving it to my computer I realized that my original wordpress files are no where to be found on my computer. Does this mean that all of my website content is lost? What do I need to do now?

Do you have WordPress installed on local computer or hosting server?

No. Because your content is saved in your database. Unless your database is also missing in Mysql, your content is not lost.

What do I need to do now?

If your wordpress files and folders are gone, then:
    – if you have good backup of your files and folders, restore it.
    – ask your hosting provider if they have backup of your site to restore it
    – check if your database is safe, then you can try reuploading the WP
    – Also find out why and how all files and folders disappeared. For it can happen again.
