• Hello,

I recently deleted a whole heap of pages permanently from one of my WordPress sites thinking that it would be okay because I had saved a back-up file from my FTP to my computer.

However, when I went to restore, all the pages are still deleted – is there anyway that I can get these back?

My hosting offers a restore service – but that is at a cost. Would much prefer to sort out myself. But if I did get them to restore, would that include the pages that I have permanently deleted?

Many thanks in advance for your feedback.

    Stace

  • well you can do it by going to page revision section, just go to edit page section, go down and you will find page revision section. select a revision date(simply click on it) prior to when you deleted page.

rest you will find your self.

Unless you have a backup, or they are still under revisions or in the trash, no way to retrieve them.

If the backup was from before you deleted those, they should be there.

But it’s the database you need – that’s where pages are stored.

Yeah I did the backup before I deleted the pages – but they are not there anymore? – when I restore the backup version.

…thinking that it would be okay because I had saved a back-up file from my FTP to my computer.

As @wpyogi mentioned, (while your uploaded media is stored in your WordPress folders) your content is actually stored in your database. You can’t restore it by replacing files on your website. If you took a database backup at the same time, then the content for those pages will be in there.

Just to be clear – and because you’ve yet to actually mention restoring the database – is it your database that you are restoring, or just the files you downloaded from the FTP backup?
