Hi all, thank you in advance as I am a newb and know nothing about the RSS feed, except that mine is broken. When I try to view it I get a bunch of html, and when I use a validator I get several errors. The problem is I don’t know what any of them mean.

Things I have already tried that have not worked:
    – deactivating all plugins
    – reinstalling Genesis and my child theme
    – switching to Twenty Twelve – the RSS was still broken.

If you have any advice, I would greatly appreciate it!

  • The feed does validate but could be better.

I see it fine with Chrome and FF. If you are seeing html you are missing an add-on.

@kmessinger, Yes, I see it validates, but for some reason my pictures won’t load onto Bloglovin and when I contacted them they said it was because my RSS was broken. But can it be broken if it validates?

Well it does have an error, data-recalc-dims=”1 is being added on by something. I know you tried to isolate it but it has to be an add-on. Do you use Photon from Jetpack?

I put my blog on Bloglovin and my pictures don’t show. I checked a couple of sites on Bloglovin that had pictures. When I looked at their feed with Chrome there was just text so I don’t know how Bloglovin gets the images.

If you use a commercial theme or plugin and need support, please go to their official support channel. In order to be good stewards of the WordPress community, and encourage innovation and progress, we feel it’s important to direct people to those official locations. Doing this will provide the developer with the income they need to make WordPress awesome.

Forum volunteers are also not given access to commercial products, so they would not know why your commercial theme or plugin is not working properly. This is one other reason why volunteers forward you to the commercial product’s vendors. The vendors are responsible for supporting their commercial product.

I don’t use photon by jetpack and I already contacted the theme designer. She couldn’t help. The design was working perfectly for months, but yesterday I tried setting up sitemaps for Google webmasters. Could that have caused problems? I haven’t changed any settings or altered the design.

I don’t know if adding the thumbnail will work because Bloglovin normally already pulls a picture from every post and it was working for me up until today.

Is there a way I can fix or remove the error in the feed?

Something amiss here. Twentytwelve does not have a RSS problem. Are you saying you got the same error?

Yes. I get a page that says:

“This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below.”

The support at Bloglovin said regardless of what the validation test says, the fact that the above comes up means there is an error with the feed. A week ago when I viewed the feed I actually saw the posts and pictures in a basic form instead of the code I see now.

I currently have Twenty Twelve activated and still see the same message.

Is the support from Bloglovin incorrect? Is the fact I see that not indicative of an error?

    Are you using FeedBurner?

I am now. I installed the plugin and set it all up last night. I was still seeing the error stated above before that though.

    That is great.

However, should I be concerned that the error shows up when I try to view my feed? Aside from deactivating every plugin (which I am happy to do again), is there a way to clear everything and reload it and start fresh in the hopes that it will work?

I think I fixed the issue! I had code in a post for a linkup through Inlinkz and when I took it out, the feed appears to load properly. Thank you so much for all your help and for your patience with me!

In case you are wondering, this is the code, it is for the new inlinkz widget. I switched to the old one and no problems.

    <!– start InLinkz script –>
    <div class=’InLinkzContainer’ id=’489183′ >
    An InLinkz Link-up</div>
    <script type=’text/javascript’ src=’#’></script>
    <!– end InLinkz script –>

I thought this might be the issue because when I had the errors while validating, the error jumped to this code.

I can’t see the error now as everything is in Feedburner. It all validates. As I recall, it was after a cdata data-recalc-dims=”1″. If you can find the error and see which post that cdata is working on, unpublish that post and see if the error goes away.

is there a way to clear everything and reload it and start fresh in the hopes that it will work?

Well, if everything is working sometimes it is best just to leave things alone.

I know it isn’t possible to delete posts but I was wondering if it is possible to delete all references to my website url including in your posts. I’ve been going through an online harassment ordeal and I’m trying to scrub my URL to prevent the person from being able to find my site. If it’s not possible I understand, but I’m so concerned I thought I would ask.

Where is your URL? I didn’t think you owned bloglovin
