    Hi Eric,

Sorry to hear the sync isn’t working for you. Can you test with a different theme to see if that’s the cause? Thereafter, you could try disabling your plugins one-by-one (not BuddyPress, obviously) and test the sync each time.

    Cheers, Christian

I really can’t. The site is in production and disabling plugins creates a mess. I will live without it. Should be a better way to troubleshoot than disabling plugins or changing themes. This is like changing the car to fit the engine.

I would strongly recommend that you ask your developer(s) to create staging and development installs where you can try things out before pushing those changes to live. At minimum, it’s reassuring to have a provably functioning backup. But also because there’s nothing I can do to help if you can’t change anything.

    Cheers, Christian

I understand. Not possible for us at this stage. This probably isn’t your issue right? You don’t handle the syncing. That’s built in to BuddyPress right?

Well sort of… this plugin intercepts the BuddyPress-WordPress sync process when it happens. It then uses the content of the xProfile fields in that process to make sure that both BuddyPress and WordPress receive the appropriate data. But yes, it is “piggy-backing” on what BuddyPress already does.

One thought occurred to me as I wrote the above: on the BuddyPress Settings page, there is an option for “Profile Syncing”. Where it says “Enable BuddyPress to WordPress profile syncing” – is that ticked?

Yep. If I can get this working I will have solved a major issue. This whole WordPress lack of field management is ridiculous. Thanks for doing what you do. Any known plugin issues? I use the popular ones: Wordfence, Yoast SEO/Analytics, etc.

No, none that have been reported to me. I use the plugin on all my BP installs with no issues. Sorry I can’t be more help.

So, it started working after the latest BP release. However…

It appears that the BP extended data is there but until I open a user and save their profile, it doesn’t sync.

My signups come via WPMU Membership integrated with BP. They sort of like each other and my theme is fully BP integrated.

Any ideas? Anyway to force a sync at signup?

If your plugin had a “sync now” feature…just saying.

Hmm, so it looks like WPMU Membership handles the sync with BuddyPress… and it also looks like there’s little that this plugin can do to affect this. WPMU Membership does its own population of the WordPress ‘first name’ and ‘last name’ fields based on the content of the standard BuddyPress ‘Name’ field – and provides no hooks that would allow interception of this process – and therefore using this plugin will confound its expectations.

If I were you, I’d either contact WPMUDEV directly and ask them to add actions and filters at the appropriate points so that other plugins can interact with the signup process or have a developer write you a custom plugin that works specifically with WPMU Membership.

    Cheers, Christian

I don’t think so. It’s just a registration page and now we use BuddyPress registration. It adds the data in Extended and only transfers after you open the Extended tab and save it. Then the WP tab shows all the data. It just won’t sync automatically. It’s so frustrating.

It sounds like a case of “too many cooks” to me. If I were in your position, I would look at reducing the complexity of the system or hire a developer to work on your specific use case.

I’m marking this as resolved now because I don’t want to support integration with premium plugins whose code I cannot freely inspect.

    Hello
I’m facing issues after changing my Theme.
I see the OLD Theme on Desktops and the NEW one on Mobile.
Is it possible to SYNC Themes, in order to update the NEW Theme in all devices?

@armusaemedusa I don’t see how this relates to BP XProfile WordPress User Sync. Also, please start a new issue rather than commenting on an old, closed ticket. Cheers.
