latest post full width above sidebar

Hi All,

I’ve been looking to figure out how to get the latest post (1st one) to go above the right sidebar and span only the width of the stuff below it. I can’t seem to get the code right. I’ve been playing with the snippet found here: https://themesandco.com/snippet/emphasize-latest-post-list/

Any tips or help would be wonderful.
