Venue categories and multiple venues for one event

For each event, I would like to designate several venues for each one, so that the event map has all the venues marked on the map.

Hmm, that’s an interesting thought. I don’t think it’s something I’ll introduce via Event Rocket but you could certainly propose it across on the forum for The Events Calendar ??

To add to this pipe dream, I would like a short code for each venue map (no matter how geographical points on each venue map) that I could add to any post, event or venue description.

I definitely see the value in a shortcode that can embed a venue map and there is actually an existing [venue_embed] shortcode that could be used for this sort of purpose. If I extended it to make it easier to pull in just the map, something like the following example, would that work for you?

[venue_embed venue="123"] {map} [/venue_embed]

These features would add so much customization that they would transform the Events Calendar into something much more valuable that could be used more creatively. It would no longer be just an events calendar: it could be many things.
