• Hello,
After many many frustrations, I post and hope to receive an answer.
Each time I wish to LOG IN, I get ERROR of password.
    I”m tired of this.
    What is the issue:
I have under the same email address, 2 websites. One free (made long time ago) and one through a host.

My email address is the same for both, but NOT my username, so I hoped it would be OK.
    NO!!!!
Each time I fill in username (of my new website) and password, it is giving me ERROR
and when I fill in my email: he ONLY accepts the password of my OLD website!

OH gosh….I’m frustrated and DO NOT want to delete my old website
but how can I e.g. blog with login in my new username and password???

    I”m lost and done trying….

    Thank you for your help!

  • Hey, rsmets!

Hang in there! It’s not so bad. ??

Have you tried changing your password, etc., through your cPanel?

Here are the instructions for it. Go down to the “Through phpMyAdmin” section (that’s the easiest):

    Hello,

    That’s NOT my question!!!
I know how to reset it, I have done it each time!!!!
    That’s NOT my question.

Let me try to explain: Is it possible to have SIMILAR email address for 2 different websites?
That’s what I have and I have 2 different usernames.
However, when I log in, it ONLY recognizes my old one and NEVER does it search for my new site!

For eg. I want to blog somewhere and post a blog, well, then wordpress asks my username and password. I do that (fill in rsmets and new website’s password) and it says ERROR …..*&*&^***(((
Why? because it searches the password of my OTHER website.

So….what do I do to be able to USE my NEW website’s address, username, password???
Do I have to dELETE or change the email address on the old one?

    I”m lost here….help…

    thank you again for trying

    rsmets,

Okay. It shouldn’t matter that you use the same e-mail on different accounts. I do it all the time. I’m assuming, though, that you’re using a different database for each site, yes?! If I was sitting there, I could fix this, but, alas. It’s a little harder

    Hi Augustin,

We might be getting somewhere…and I am NOT giving up! Please stick with me here ??

1/ what do you mean with different databases?

2/ To be exact: I have a website (this is the newest one I mention) AND I have the other

3/ Both have the account setting with the SAME email address, but different usernames

    4/ issues:
I go to wpadmin, and I can use username and NEW website’s password

But IF I go to wordpress.com, and type in the same username, it will NOT recognize it and ONLY works if I type the password of the bodymindtrainer site.
    HOw come???

5/If I write on anyones’s blog, and therefore I need to type in my website, again, it wont work as the only ”valid password” seems the bodymindtrainer one INSTEAD of the expattoinpat ….

Does it make sense now? How can I solve 5/ ? and the rest too….

    thank you so much

    Rachel

Are you clearing your browser cache and cookies?

    (@rsmets)

    Hello,
YES, I clear cache and cookies.
PLEASE, PLEASE give me a solution regarding changing emails or so…
because it has nothing to do with any computer,
it has to do with email adresses or databases that Augusting mentioned…can you maybe explain that?

I hope someone can give an answer

    thank you
    Rachel

What are the two sites in question?

Using the same email should not be a problem.

    Thread Starter rsmets

    (@rsmets)

    It’s not about 2 sites…

Ok,….let me try to be clear:
    If I go here:
    https://expattoinpat.com/wp-admin/
Then I login with my user and password and it works.

    If I go here:
    https://wordpress.com/wp-login.php
Then it doesn’t recognize the same username and password as above.
It only recognizes an old username and password for Bodymindtrainer wordpress site.

BUT< this is NOT the issue:
    The issue is once again:
When I want to answer a blog on someone’s blog, and I have to place my wordpress credentials, it will NEVER take me to ExpattoInpat, but always see my hotmail as the old Bodymindtrainer.

This is what I keep repeating ….
I just don’t know how else to explain.

    Thank you for helping…

I don’t know that I understand, sorry, but here is some clarification – WordPress.COM sites are totally separate from self-hosted – it should NOT recognize your user name and password for a self-hosted site. And computers generally save login info for ALL WP sites – so maybe that’s messing it up.

If you are trying to comment on a WordPress.COM site, you need to be logged in to a WordPress.COM site.

That said, if you are using JetPack plugin, you can use that to login to either site – see:

    https://jetpack.me/support/sso/

Sounds like maybe that’s what is not configured correctly?

    (@rsmets)

    Hi ,
Ok, some of your answer may be usefull, so please tell me more
    about this:
If you are trying to comment on a WordPress.COM site, you need to be logged in to a WordPress.COM site.

Please note that it’s NOT about the computer recognizing a password
It’s about me being ON a WordPress blog, trying to write on someone’s wordpress blog and unable to do so.
Because if you answer someone’s blog, you have to give your credentials, which I try to do as expattoinpat, which is a wordpress site, but from another hosting.

Are you using JetPack plugin on your self-hosted site?

    Thread Starter rsmets

    (@rsmets)

    Hello,
No i’m not using that plug in on the self hosted website.
I”m very reluctant to adding plug ins, so what does this JetPack do?
    Can I avoid it?
    Thank you

If you want to be able to comment on WordPress.COM sites from your self-hosted site login, you have to use JetPack – read about it here:
