• I started my WP with one category, and ended up adding several others. I’m having a problem trying to get the categories to show up in an order other than how they’re arranged in the MySQL database. I imagine this is because of the nature of the SELECT query.
Is it possible to rearrange these, perhaps by adding an ORDER BY to the query? If so, in which file is the appropriate query stored?
    I appreciate everybody’s input.

  • Try adding spaces to their names.
A category with a space before it’s name will display above a category without a space.
The space is not shown when displayed on your blog.
This way, you should be able to determine display order.

Maybe a MOD to make a manual ordered list of categories is welcome ??

The space thing should work fine but i don’t like hack-y things. A MOD would be ideal, but I’ll just reorder the MySQL table. Thanks.

I can get the spaces thing to work with with all the other links under each of my categories, except the ones that under the title that actually says ‘Categories’. Here’s my page just so you can see what I mean. Links and links management, and Categories and the links under them, and they’re editing functions are different things in the admin panel which is I think, what confuses everyone.

Just letting people know that I have created a plugin, My Link Order, to address this very issue by allowing you to manually set the order of link categories and links. Check it out at My Link Order
