What I am trying to accomplish is sort of odd, and seems to fall in the space between currently available plugins. I would simply like to:

    1) Have a user/client log in.
    2) Have a menu item (and page) appear that is specific to that user.

After exhaustive searching I have found a plugin called User Role Editor, but it would require manual entry of every user ID, as well as assigning the permission page to that ID.

Let me back track and give the intended purpose and maybe somebody could offer a more elegant solution. We are creating a site for clients that will contain some visual work (and files) that we have created for them. So we don’t want them to be able to edit the page, just go there to view and/or show this work, so I believe that eliminates most BuddyPress type things. It can’t be as vague as the normal Nav Menu Roles ‘logged in’ or ‘logged out’ because the page would be visible to everybody once logged in and couldn’t be specific to that client.

I understand that we will still be creating a page (or multiple/child pages) for each client, but was thinking I could easily name their page to match their ID? Then when they log in we could display the page or menu item that matches the ‘current user ID’? Maybe I’m looking for the function that generates the menu itself and need to modify that? I know that I’m most likely making this way more complicate than necessary, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

    Bump…

Have you considered just using the built-in password-protected posts? Each post can have its own password that’s only given to the desired particular user(s). Instead of a menu item, you would just give them their url (determined by the post name).

By the way, when you bump a topic, it gets removed from the ‘topics with no replies’ list, which makes it far more likely to be overlooked by mods/helpers who are trying to make sure topics get responses.

Thanks for the heads up regarding the bump. Don’t usually do that. Anyway, I have explored all options and considered what you are saying regarding the password protected pages/posts. It just seems… odd/low tech in a way when we are targeting high end clients. I guess what I’m saying is that people are used to logging in with a username and password and being taken to ‘their page’ on whatever site.

With what your suggesting they would have to keep that link around which could end up being rather long https://www.sitename.com/clients/thisclient and still need their password. I appreciate your feedback, and while that would work, we are still looking for a solution that includes a ‘my projects’ type menu item along with an automatic redirect to their page upon login. Thanks for your response.
