On the homepage I want to show only the 3 latest blog post no more. How do I make this possible?

I would like to know how to limit the homepage to just ONE POST, and allow visitor comments below.

    Dashboard > Settings > Reading >
Front page displays: Your latest posts
Blog pages show at most: 1 post

I want to write one new post each week. The home/front page would present that post and visitor comments below it. Next week, that page/post/comments gets replaced by the new version. Prior home pages from prior weeks–each with its own single post and comments–would be accessible via my Archive page and/or Category list.

    You’re welcome, and that’s GREAT!

I’m a total noob, barely qualified to ASK questions (ha).
I’m surprised that I could be of help to anyone at this early point in my ‘learning curve’.

Can anyone guide me in how to accomplish my more detailed plan as described in paragraph 3 of post #3 above? I’ve been studying Custom Page TEMPLATES online, but coding is beyond me at this point. So if I can accomplish what I want using just the THEMIFY BASIC Theme and maybe a plugin or two, that’s the route I’d like to explore. But I’ll do whatever it takes…
