How to integrate Buddypress with my theme

Actually the folks over at BuddyPress are quite expert; sometimes you need to be patient though, to give the right person a chance to find and help you. In the meantime, start going through these pages to get an idea of how to go about getting your site to do what you want. Hope it helps.

I appreciate Bill. My website https://www.rapforthemoment.com has Buddypress uploaded to it, only I cannot add widgets to any of it’s configured pages. So like on the Activity page, I cannot add widgets. Nor the Groups page, or any other it comes with. What should I do to fix this?

Have you gone to Settings > BuddyPress > Pages and configured the WP pages to be used for BP?

That’s often a JavaScript issue – so you’ll need to track down what’s causing it – deactivate plugins or try this:

@rapforthemoment as I mentioned in the BuddyPress forums, you can only add widgets to a widget area (usually sidebar or footer). Or You can always create a page template with new widget areas see https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Widgetizing_Themes

Hey man. I fully understand the art of the widget and where it can and can’t be applied to, but this is not the problem. I can put a widget on every other page EXCEPT for the buddypress pages. Take a look at my site: https://www.rapforthemoment.com :and click on Activity, or Crews tab. As you can see, the buddypress layout is there, only nothing in the right sidebar. I literally am not able to put anything there.

Due to the way BP has been re-designed for easy theme compatibility, most times BP will use your theme’s templates (including those with sidebars) for its own BP pages (like Activity). But if your premium theme has a non-standard page hierarchy there could be a problem. That’s why it might be good to get in touch with the theme author about this before pulling out any more hair. Maybe he can give you an easy fix?

Also I see that you have some plugin like ‘BP Activity Widget’ that hasn’t been updated in almost a year and a half, which is too long for use with something like BP. Check into that?
