Confusing Workflow & Feature Request

  • I’ve run into difficulties when trying to create a new slider. I’ve viewed the tutorial video I found, but it seems as though it’s outdated as it doesn’t correspond with what I’m seeing on my screen. I’m sorry if I’m missing something, but I’m genuinely at a loss.

    I feel that having a ‘sliders’ sub-menu under ‘Media’ would be a great start. It would make things so much easier. Include suggested images sizes please.

    Also, with the ‘Customise’ page:
    1. We need to be able to link to files already in our media library rather than having to re-upload a file specifically.
    2. Being able to choose a custom colour would be nice.
    3. This section is at risk of becoming very convoluted. Not helped by being cramped into a small sidebar.

  • Hi Jeffrey, about the slider, it’s probably ’cause the media are displayed in grid and when you click on edit you don’t see the full editor view?
    Display them as list (first button on the left of the media header bar) then Edit on a whatever media. If you still don’t see the Sliders options.
    Click on Screen Options (top right) and check “Sliders options”, if you still don’t see them, can be a plugin conflicting issue.

    About the point 3, yes it’s risky, the strong point of using the WordPress Customize as settings page is the fact that the user can actually see what he’s doing with the live preview! The weak point is that this is a pretty wp new feature (so under development) and has some visual limits like the one you pointed out. ??
