• My site won’t load when first visited and needs refreshed. It works the 2nd time when refreshed. The message I get is:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 12320735 bytes) in /home2/hh/public_html/wp-content/plugins/better-wp-security/modules/free/backup/class-itsec-backup.php on line 148

Any ideas? I disabled, updated wordpress & updated the plugin too but no joy as it still happens periodically but especially when you first visit the site.

    Thanks.

  • You should probably disable the iTSec plugin Scheduled Database Backup option and switch to another proper backup solution.

When the next scheduled date\time has passed a simple visit to the frontend website (or backend WP Dashboard) will kickoff the iTSec plugin Scheduled Database Backup background process.

Apparently the backup process runs out of memory.

You could increase the PHP memory_limit from 256 MB to a higher value but that will only temporarily alleviate the problem.
Another option is to exclude data tables that hold irrelevant data from the backup in an attempt to make the backup footprint smaller.

So for now follow these instructions to disable the iTSec plugin Scheduled Database Backup option:

    – Login to WP Dashboard and click on the Security menu option.
    – Click on the Settings tab.
    – In the “Go to” select box select “Database Backups”.
    – Untick the checkbox of the last option “Enable Scheduled Database Backups
    – Finally click on the “Save All Changes” button.

If the above info helps you resolve the issue please mark the topic as ‘resolved’.
