How long should the Backwpup back up take?

  • I backed up my WordPress site using BackWpup version 3.1.4. It has been stuck on 78% for over 6 hours. I checked the log and it states status is O.K. but the message within the log says “Trying to create a back up archive”….please be patient.

    Is it safe to say that it’s complete and I can now upgrade my WordPress software?

  • Technically, it’s not safe until you’ve confirmed that the backup worked. Have you made a backup of your site before? How big is the backup file?

    6 hours is definitely unusual in terms of how long it /should/ take. See if you can download the backup (it should be a zip file).

    Yes, when I first uploaded the plugin and it was simple. This time it’s acting a little sarewy. When I click “download”it’s a html file. Should I just start over?
