Ajax pagination not working for list

Hello, I’m trying to create a paginated list but when I click on the 2nd page, the entire page refreshes and jumps to the top which will be a bit confusing to the visitors. Shouldn’t it paginate like it does on the demo page? (https://demo.wp-events-plugin.com/shortcode/)

The paginated list sits inside a tab module provided by the theme, but underneath it I placed one directly into the body to show the tabs are not the cause of the problem.
