Videos, featured images don't appear in emails delivered by Jetpack

For some time now I’ve noticed that if someones email subscribes to our blog using the Jetpack subscription form, they don’t see video embeds or the post’s featured image. The latter I can live without, the former is pretty awful.

I found this closed issue from a year ago discussing the same problem. Someone suggested using Jetpack’s embed codes. I did and it didn’t work.

Any ideas?
