  • The first link works for me, but the other two are indeed broken.

The JWImageRotator isn’t coming back. It’s no longer supported for security reasons.

Could you try and see if the problem still happens if you use the default theme? That would help narrow down the possibilities of what is causing the bug, since it works on my (test)sites.

Thanks for your speedy response. Just tried it again, using latest default “Twenty Fifteen” theme. Still does not work, I’m afraid.

    What next?

I don’t think this is related to themes. I should also add that slideshow worked fine in last version (though there were shedloads of other bugs which I was pleased to see fixed with this version).

Edit. It has just sprung into life on “twenty fifteen, having refreshed the page several times. Still does not work on older themes such as “twenty ten” though.

I see. I have noticed it sometimes takes a few refreshes before the slideshow shows up. That’s because this slideshow uses a autoheight plugin and apparently it doesn’t always work, but I’ll look into that.

However, the slideshow does work for me in every Twenty (Ten, Eleven, up to Fifteen) and a bunch of other themes I testes as well. But since it happens on WPGetReady as well, this is weird.

For now you can roll back to a previous version if you need the slideshow. The reason we changed the slideshow is because the original slideshow wasn’t active anymore, and it also had it’s share of bugs.

A month or so has passed and a new version is out. I just installed it but sadly this problem remains. Are we any nearer a fix? Or is there something I can do to my template to make it work?

    Many thanks.

The slideshow links you posted in the first post do work for me now.

It should work better if you disable the fit to space option, and manually set the size.

It seems however that the plugin we’ve used to make the slideshow isn’t really supported anymore. That’s why I’m currently looking into replacing it. If you want to test, I can give you a version of the plugin with the new slideshow, and that one should work. (Do note that it’s a beta, so there might be bugs, but they can be fixed fast, since it’s a beta ?? )

Yes please I would be delighted to test. I will also submit bug reports If that will help you?

Sadly, at the moment, in order to get everything working as we need, I have had to roll right back to the last “v1.x series” Nextgen, version 1.9.13, After that there were so many regressions (dialogs not appearing correctly, sort order broken, slideshow broken etc.) that we had no choice but to go back to a version where everything worked as expected.

As a matter of interest, were they any known security issues with version 1.9.13?

I’m terribly sorry to hear you’re having all these issues. There are no major security issues in 1.9.13, so for now you should be fine.

If you’re willing to help testing, I’ve prepared a zip with a new version of NextCellent: download link.

Please report all issues, however small, here: https://bitbucket.org/niknetniko/nextcellent/issues?status=new&status=open. This will help us keep track of them, and you can see the status of the issues as well.

To be completely safe, you should make a back-up of your database before installing the new version. Normally there should not be any issues, but you never know.

Like I said before, this is a test version, so there will most likely be bugs (hopefully not too many though). If you can run it on a test site, please do. If you do run it on a production site, please make sure you have a zip within reach of the previous version (in your case this is 1.9.13).

Thank you for the info and for the link. FWIW all my sites’ databases are automatically backed up daily with “mysqlbackup” script, run as a cron job. And the entire server is regularly rsynced over SSH to a local server. But thanks for the warning. Better safe than sorry – as the old saying goes. ??

I will test my backups and install the latest beta later today or first thing tomorrow, and let you know how it goes.

If you’re up for it, bug reports should go here: https://bitbucket.org/niknetniko/nextcellent/issues?status=new&status=open

Well, if you are kind enough to maintain this software, for free, and fix the bugs, then the least I can do is submit some bug reports to help you perfect the product! ??

    First issue submitted already.
