  • You’re not the only one. My understanding is that the TinyMCE plugin was overhauled with the latest update, which has eliminated much of the table tools.

    On top of that, there appears to be a glitch wherein the latest update does not detect a current WordPress installation.

    I can get the table lines in the advanced version of TinyMCE, but not in the widget plugin?? Since I’m new to the widget version I figured someone else had to feel my pain. Hopefully it’s addressed in the next update or help arrives in this thread!

    This depends on two things:

    – Support in TinyMCE. This was missing at first after version 4.0 was released (WordPress 3.9). Now almost all options in the Table dialogs are available again.

    – Your theme’s styles. Sometimes the theme overrides or changes how tables look. Best way to fix this is to make (or download) a child theme. Then remove everything else only add a little of CSS to make your tables look good.
