Do I need an SSL certificate?

    I’m starting a blog and I’ve read conflicting things about whether or not I need an SSL certificate since I will have an email subscription option. Can anyone help clear this up for me? I won’t be collecting any other private information and won’t be selling anything. Thanks in advance.
