    Hi there,
PLEASE, I need your help! I am trying to log into the admin site of my website, but when I press the “log-in” button nothing happens. I have been working on the site a week ago and everything worked fine without me having changed anything in the background files. Now I can’t access the admin area. Could you please advice me where the problem is? I have incountered the same problem 2 months ago. Back then, I reinstalled wp on my host. But I don’t want to do that again – because a lot of work……..
    My domain is https://www.entdeckungsreiseninsleben.com
    Your help is much appreciated!!!
    Best regards
    Christine

Try manually resetting your plugins (no Dashboard access required). If that resolves the issue, reactivate each one individually until you find the cause.

If that does not resolve the issue, access your server via FTP or SFTP, navigate to /wp-content/themes/ and rename the directory of your currently active theme. This will force the default theme to activate and hopefully rule-out a theme-specific issue (theme functions can interfere like plugins).

    I don’t see a login button

    go here: https://www.entdeckungsreiseninsleben.com/wp-login.php

I see the login page there.

I’m pretty sure that’s what he means by “when I press the ‘log-in’ button nothing happens,” but just in case, fingers-crossed that’s all it is. ??

    I get this error

Yeah, hopefully it’s a plugin or theme function gumming up the works. The suggests in my first reply do not require Dashboard access.

Hi, it’s been a while since I’ve logged…last year I think and I’m unable to log in too, using the correct surname and password. It keeps saying it will send me an email with a link to reset it but I receive it. I’ve made sure it hasn’t been sent to my other folders in my inbox. Can you please help me? That’s a completely separate issue.

If none of the methods at https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Resetting_Your_Password work for you, please open your own thread: https://www.ads-software.com/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting#postform

    Hi there,
Many thanks for your answer, James Huff! The deactivating of the plug ins didn’t do anything. So I changed the child theme’s name and now I can access the dashboard again. What do I do from here? Can I simply switch back to my child theme? But how can I prevent this from happening again? And what actually did happen? Many many thanks for your help!!!

    Moderator James Huff

    (@macmanx)

Does it work if you switch back to the child theme?

If not, you’ll need to re-name it again to reset it, then please see if it works if you switch to the parent theme instead.

Yes, it works if I switch back to the child theme.
What is the problem? One possibility I could think of is that my functions.php is saved as an ascii. I have tried to save it as utf-8, but for some reason that doesn’t work. Do you think that could be the problem?

    Moderator James Huff

    (@macmanx)

If it works when you switch back, it was probably just a temporary conflict. Pretty much impossible to find out why since the original problem can’t be reproduced, but it’s good that it’s working now. ??

The file encoding may have had something to do with it, but very unlikely.

Ah ok. Well, if that’s what it is, that’s what it is. I am glad that it wasn’t a mess-up from my side then!
    Thank you soo much!!!

    You’re welcome!
