How to allow event RSVPs beyond event start time

We’ve been having an issue that I’ve been monitoring. We have our RSVP events set up so people can RSVP until 9:00pm. The event starts at 8:00pm. I set it to collect until the following day. For some reason it shuts the RSVP off prior to the event, and definitely prior to the date it tell it to collect till. Can you or someone else take a look at tell me how we can fix this so that people can RSVP beyond the start time of the event?
