Photos are having the edges cropped off

Hi Everyone

I am trying to upload either png or jpg files but the edges are always cropped off. This doesn’t matter normally for our photos but I am trying to create a slider on the home page which scrolls through comments customers have made about us and cutting off the beginning and end of words doesn’t really give the same message!

I have followed the advice on some of the previous threads and unchecked the box that says “Crop thumbnail to exact dimensions (normally thumbnails are proportional)” in the media settings but that hasn’t worked. I have re-sized the images to 150 by 150 so they are no bigger than the thumbnail but when they go into the slider (meta slider) and I preview it I still only get part of the image.

I have altered the images themselves and used the solution that has worked for others so am out of ideas now. If anyone in forum-land can help me I would be incredibly grateful!!!
