    Hi

If this topic is not posted in the correct forum location please advise!

Issue: I decided to install a WP Multisite network the problem is that when I remove the WWW prefix from my URL before starting the installation process of the Multisite Network the page appearance > menus no longer loads, it only loads for a split second then turns to a white page that will not stop loading… When I add the prefix WWW back to the URL the menu problem goes away!

This is my 2nd time trying to install this.

The first time I forgot to remove the WWW from the URL. So I then removed all all components of the multisite installation from wp-config, htaccess and all tables in the database and started over from step one…. The installation seemed to work fine no errors are displayed, the website works fine both frontend and backend, the only thing not working is the appearance > menus page will not load.

Has anyone seen this behaviour before? I have googled for two days and have yet to find anything close to the issue I’m dealing with..

I sure hope someone can please give me a little advice on how I can possibly resolve this issue and complete my Multisite installation…

Thanks in advance for any and all advice!

    Have a great day,
    Fish

When you change the www, do you properly do it for BOTH the home and siteURLs?

    Hi Mika

Yes I’m chaning both the Home URL and the Site URL via the Settings >> General tab..

What I find really odd is that the rest of the site both frontend and backend are functioning prefect with or without the prefix, the only issue is when I remove the WWW prefix the menu tab will no load when I replace the WWW the menu tab loads fine…. Could this possibly be a database issue?

Thank you for taking the time to responding I truly appreciate it.

I’ve only seen those things when a site has a combination of www and non-ww settings throughout.

I would grab https://github.com/interconnectit/Search-Replace-DB and do a search replace for www.domain.com and change it to domain.com

    Whole DB, yes.

THEN check the .htaccess and wp-config.php to ensure I’m not forcing www in there.

THEN check with my host to make sure they don’t have a setting to force www.

Why not try to go to your cpanel and try having a look on setting. It might help

    Hi stephenward

I was able to find a work around for my issue… The only reason for installing multi-site was to avoid extra cost with paid themes and plugins because my blog and members site both are in subdomains this means I have to purchase three license for each theme and plugin I use. The reason so all three sites will look and feel the same..

Again thank you both for your suggestions/advice.
    Have a great day!
