I set Easy Google Fonts up about a month ago. It worked beautifully, and I was very happy with it – even set a client up with it. Then I came back to my site after not looking at it for a few days, and suddenly all my customizations were gone. My previously selected fonts showed in Customize, but did not appear on my site. I wasn’t able to preview or change fonts, and the default typograhy section in Customize was also affected, along with the custom CSS selectors I set up.

I deactivated all of my plugins (all three of them), but that didn’t help. I hadn’t had to set up an API key to make the plugin work before, but I decided to try that before posting a query. I followed your excellent step by step instructions, generated the key, and lo, that solved the problem.

The only change I could remember making is an update to my theme (GeneratePress). Not sure why that would cause this problem, but I’m posting my experience in case it is useful to you, or anyone else who had the same thing happen. Feel free to mark it solved as soon as you read it.

BTW, this help forum is pretty much impossible to get to from the plugin itself. Maybe you could link to it in your next update?

    Hi there,

Seems you may have meant to post this in the plugin support area?

Either way – glad you were able to solve the issue. I can’t think of anything in the GP update that would have required you to add the API key – I would guess that’s a plugin thing.

Anyways, let me know if you find anything wrong with GP ??
