• I want to move my WP site from a sub directory to my main directory.
    All instructions I’ve read say to change the web addresses on my WP General Settings page.

    PROBLEM: I have no such fields on that page as per the link to a screenshot of my General Settings page WP General settings screenshot

    Is this a problem or omission in the latest WP version or ….??
    Please help as I need to get my site up and running live.

    Kind regards
    Kara

    It is not. Surely you would see very many related posts here if that was the issue.

    Thanks for your prompt response.

    Once again the instructions state: “On the Settings->General screen in a single site installation of WordPress, there are two fields named “WordPress Address (URL)” and “Site Address (URL)”. They are important settings, since they control where WordPress thinks your site is located. They control the display of the URL in the admin section of your page, as well as the front end, and are used throughout the WordPress code.”

    As per the screenshot WP General settings screenshot of my Settings->General screen my issue is that I DON’T HAVE THOSE TWO FIELDS.
    Why aren’t they there?
    I’m not confident to start changing the config.php file.

    Regards
    Kara

    Hi, Kara, I have exactly the same issue, did you manage to sort it out, please?

    @puertobanus

    That symptom could indicate that you are not using an administrative account. Or – If the fields are visible, but they are greyed out and can’ t be changed, it might indicate that someone has hard-coded the site URL’s in your wp-config.php file.

    Either way, you should start a new thread for your issue. This one is pretty old, and probably won’t attract much attention.

    The link at the top of this page (Add New) will help you start your own topic. Add as much helpful detail as possible. https://www.ads-software.com/support/forum/how-to-and-troubleshooting
