• As you might know, there are issues with privacy policies in Germany when using “Stats” of Jetpack.
    For now, I′m only interested in using the Subscription Widget in WP projects for our customers, because it seems to be the best solution for “category-subscription-by-mail”.
    I′m worried about those privacy issues and like to know wether any data is leaving the site when the Subscription Widget (and no other part of Jetpack) is being activated.

    When you use Jetpack Subscriptions, the content of your posts is sent to WordPress.com servers, from where we send emails to each one of your subscribers. The email addresses of your subscribers are stored on WordPress.com as well.

    You’ll consequently want to add a note to let your readers know what happens when they subscribe to your site. You can do so by customizing the contents of Jetpack’s Subscription form for example, under Appearance > Widgets in your dashboard:
