Copy selected posts WITH comments to new domain?

    Does anyone know of a plugin or otherwise that would do this?

    Copy SELECTED content from one existing live WordPress site on Domain X to another separate WordPress site on Domain Y?

    The content would be specific page and post content WITH the associated comments attached to posts. The comments part is where I have come unstuck before – I’ve had them imported separately and been matched to the wrong posts, imported just as text not “real” comments and other assorted headaches. The existing site has maybe 1000 posts and I want to hand pick only certain ones and get them across to the new site as cleanly as possible.

    The old site will eventually be deleted so all links and images should reflect this.

    No need to copy anything else, plugins etc as all this will be fresh and new. The priority is the pages, post and the comments.

  • Just to clarify, Domain X will be shutting down and you are wanting to move all the content to Domain Y?

    Domain X will shut down and be replaced with Domain Y when Domain Y is launched – but at that point the Domain X domain name will be used for Domain Y, if that makes sense!

    The important point is not ALL the content – it is selected content – I want to choose only certain posts and copy them, along with comments. I know there could be some gaps where comments are submitted to Domain X before it shuts but that is ok.

    You could try using the WordPress Importer. It will bring over all posts/pages but you can then delete the ones you do not want. It will also bring over images and comments.
