Links open in new window by default

  • The problem page on my website is:

    https://www.thinkumbra.com/products

    When I setup a link on my page, by default it should open the link in the same window. But currently by default it is opening my links in a brand new tab. I have deactivated all my plugins to make sure they are not interfering with each other but the same thing is still happening.

    When I use the inspect element tool in chrome it shows that the target is being set to “_blank”. On the edit window for my page I have tried to manually set the target to “_self” but unfortunately it is still being overridden.

    I found the solution to the problem.

    I went into the customization mode.

    Global Settings > Links style and effects > Open external links in a new tab.

    I saw that was checked, I unchecked it and it fixed my issue. I guess the definition of external link means anything outside of the page / post, while maybe I was thinking it was anything out site of my actual website.

    The good think is it still opens up any social media links in a new window which is perfect.

    you got it right, the definition of external links meant that:
    anything out site of my actual website.
    Glad you found a solution by yourself.
    If you had that issue was because of a bug ??
    Hopefully it has been fixed in the recent theme’s versions.
    You’re running 3.3.1 while the latest is 3.3.12. You might want to update your theme and see if this fixes the issue ??
