Migrating Blog w/ one theme to subsection of New WordPress Site w/Custom Theme
-
Hey Everyone,
I’ve found these forums incredibly helpful over the past few years, but am afraid I’ve run into a problem I can’t find an applicable thread for. I downloaded and utilized ProPhoto for a family friend’s blog (blog.lisalindblad.com). Her company’s website (lisalindblad.com) has undergone an extensive migration to WordPress through the creation of a custom theme (lisalindblad.theatomgroup.com). Prior to launching the new website, we need to migrate the ProPhoto blog over to the “Blog” portion of the new website, so it basically “nests” under the new site’s top level nav and users can bounce back and forth between the blog and other portions seamlessly. I am not concerned about appearances beyond that ??
I know that importing the individual entries into the blog is an option, but as you can see my test run was having significant issues with styles, etc. I recognize this is a fairly unique situation, but I would much appreciate some advice on the best/most efficient way to proceed under these circumstances. Am I required to create a multisite network in order to do this, with the current blog’s theme (ProPhoto) running on the blog portion? Is there a plugin that will allow me to designate ProPhoto to apply to all posts, after which I can export all posts/content from the current blog and import them into the new site? Or is the only option to gerry-rig a set-up where I install an identical Nav/Header on the current blog, and then hardcode paths to the other portions of the site to “fool” the end user into thinking they are all connected (but likely causing loading issues)?
Again, any assistance is much appreciated. I’m open to any and all options, but I feel like there has to be an efficient way to do this. Or at least I hope so!
Thanks!
