Google verifying

Trying to verify my site for google. I’ve put the metatag everywhere possible in the head, but it can’t find it. Also tried the upload html code, but it returns 200(success) instead of 400(not found).
Any one with a bit of time to help me out? I’m new to worpress and would realy appreciate the help.
