Registration sets role

I was wondering if this is possible.

I’ve setup the role manager plugin and created a new user group named students, who have access to certain pages.

I want to add a check box to the registration that asks if the person registering is a student or not.

If the box is checked then their role is set to student
If the box is not checked then their role is set to subscriber.

Is this possible?
