I have just installed this neat plugin and the emails do not seem to be sending. Is there anything additional I need to enable, other than the Activity Log settings section? It is a private install, so only has two admin users. I would like to see all activity, so I chose “Activity Type does not equal User” since we won’t be adding anymore users.

I see many lines of activity in the Activity Log section, but no email notifications. Thanks for creating such a useful plugin!!

Hello, what would be a quick test to see if I am able to send other emails?

If you have a new users. The admin get email?

Hmm, you are right it appears I am not able to get email at all. I tested a mock new user and I never got the email from that. Sounds like a trip to Google to see if I can figure out why it isn’t sending emails.

Ok, I was able to get wordpress to start sending emails by utilizing this plugin: WP Mail SMTP

However, I am still not getting the notifications from Activity Log. Does your plugin poll mail() directly? If so, per a WP Mail SMTP tip we may need to call wp_mail() instead. Any ideas?

    Thanks so much.

We are sending emails by wp_mail().

Hmm, very strange. Wonder why it isn’t working? Is there anything further I can check?

    (@kingyes)

Nope. I don’t know for now.
BTW – the notification product is not finishing. Maybe we are create a new plugin for that section later.

It’s possible the emails are being sent, you are just not receiving them. Depends on who your email is with, how your dns zone file is configured, and which SMTP server you used to send them.

What is the domain name of your FROM email address?

Thanks Yakir for confirming further work is required on the notification portion. I still enjoy the activity log and will continue to use this great plugin.

Postman SMTP, thank you for chiming in. I actually just installed your plugin and must say it is very nice. My FROM domain is voodoospark.com

You have an SPF that says your outbound SMTP server must be 74.50.21.167. Does that sound right to you?

Check your email headers to see if there are any issues related to SPF.

Thanks for the props — we plugin developers appreciate that ??

I actually gave up on my server and with your cool plugin just switched over to gmail and oath, but I am still not getting emails from wordpress or activity log. Very strange.

Yes, that is odd, because you’ve just removed a lot of variables. OAuth 2.0 forces you to use a gmail account, and a gmail address already has SPF, DKIM and DMARC properly configured.

I say install a plugin like Email Log and make sure that the emails are being generated and sent (Postman also has a success-message counter, you could watch it to see if it increments whenever you expect Activity Log to send a message, but that’s pretty basic).

Thanks for the tip on the Email Log plugin. I did install it and it is not showing any emails attempts. I don’t know what else to check. ??

And Postman’s success counter doesn’t move? Then sounds like you have a bigger problem. Try disabling your theme? And other plugins. I just had a user discover a conflict where the theme was mangling the way mail was being sent.
