• Hi there,

We are a gallery with a website that features a page showing artworks for sale. Over a period of months I have successfully posted/published 234 paintings to the ‘artworks’ page of our website. These posts contain two images each (of the painting).
All of the sudden a problem has emerged:
I can still successfully upload a post, but when I got to view it on the website a blank white window comes up.
Our homepage has a quick link to the last three paintings to be loaded. The images is there as a thumbnail you can click on to view further details. Upon clicking it, the blank page presents itself.

Upon following instructions for the browser diagnostics (we use Firefox) this is what comes up:

    Timestamp: 1/04/2015 2:36:55 pm
    Error: TypeError: document.getElementById(…) is null
    Source File: chrome://web-developer/content/overlay/javascript/overlay.js
    Line: 7333

I am very far from remotely understanding what the above means, and lack computer literacy.

Here is the link to our website: https://www.papunyatula.com.au

If you click on the first painting thumbnail that sits under the heading ‘Artworks’ (orange background with white, orange and red roundels) you will get an idea of our problem.

I’d be very appreciative of any help/advice that may be out there!

    Cheers. Lizzy

  • Hi,

Did you recently activate or update any plugin or the theme itself? You could de-activate all plugins and see if the issue is resolved. If it is resolved, activate plugins one-by-one (and check the site each time). You should be able to find the plugin that is causing the problem.

    Thanks,
    Ramesh

    Thanks for replying Ramesh.

We hadn’t performed any updates on plugins or the theme when the error started to occur. In fact I had successfully uploaded 5 paintings in the hour before all went pear shaped.
In our attempts to fix the issue my colleague performed 9 updates of various plugins, which had no effect. We’re being notified of available theme updates which we haven’t done as yet.

If I deactivate the plugins will their specific settings be lost?

    Thanks again,

    Lizzy

No. Plugin settings are safely stored in the database.

Can you temporarily enable debugging and see if there are any error messages?
