• I built a site for a customer on a subdomain on my business website account so this customer can see the progress of the build, now I want to migrate or transfer the design to another account and domain that is owned by the customer. The sample site was hosted on Godaddy and I need to move it to an empty WordPress at e-Hosting. I need a really good tutorial to help me with this. Can I get some help with this please?

  • This is a very detailed guide on Moving WordPress: https://codex.www.ads-software.com/Moving_WordPress

    Log in to your site.
Go to the Administration > Settings > General screen.
In the box for WordPress Address (URL): change the address to the new location of your main WordPress core files.
In the box for Site Address (URL): change the address to the new location, which should match the WordPress (your public site) address.
    Click Save Changes.
(Do not try to open/view your site now!)
Move your WordPress core files to the new location. This includes the files found within the original directory, such as https://example.com/wordpress, and all the sub-directories, to the new location.
Now, try to open your site by going to yourdomain.com/wp-admin. Note, you may need to go to yourdomain.com/wp-login.php

    Hi

Sorry to jump onto someone else’s topic but I’m new to creating websites and having the same problem as mentioned above.

I’ve tried to follow the instructions but when I go to the settings>general screen I’m unable to change the Site Address or WordPress Address URLs. Do you know why this might be, is it due to the way I set up the site originally?

My company has a domain which just has a ‘under contruction’ page on at the moment, so I’d like to be able to transfer it over to the WordPress shop I have built once it’s ready.

Again, sorry for jumping on someone else’s post and also if it’s a really simple question!

    Many thanks,

    Jenna
