Can I protect my site?

I asked this question in the top forum here and it immediately got closed with “Andrew,” a moderator, sending me to outside WP contractors for an answer.

*I AM NOT ASKING WHERE TO GO TO HIRE HELP! *Please* read my actual, technical question below before closing this and ignoring my question. I believe this is a reasonable question to ask and doesn’t violate any rules of the forum.*

I have a WP blog with lots of content, years’ worth.

***ANDREW: THIS IS NOT MY QUESTION, IT JUST SETS UP MY QUESTION: I’d like to hire someone on the Web, perhaps through eLance, to modify it for me.

Is it possible to protect my existing content but create a User account on my blog to allow a WP coder to modify my theme but TOUCH NO CONTENT? My blog’s all about politics and religion… a few words changed here and there and it would make problems for me.

I’m REALLY not paranoid. It’s not that I don’t trust others, I just won’t know them.

Any direction on this would be appreciated!
