Canvas theme not resizing on square monitors

I am using Canvas theme, version 5.9.0 on a GoDaddy server. I have word press version 4.1.1 installed. the site looks fine on my desktop, tablet and laptop. however when I view it on a square screen (18″) the main images become distorted and the side bars are shoved below all of the main content area.
