• I have a client who would like to create a hypertext novel with each chapter using a different domain name. He has a couple hundred domains he’d like to use. Is there a way to map all those domains to one main domain, with ONLY the main domain hosted? (Can this plugin do that?)

If each domain needs to be hosted before it can be mapped – which means a couple hundred hosting contracts – it would not be cost-effective.

    Thanks for your help!

  • So each chapter is a single WordPress post (or set of posts), and each chapter has a domain name associated with it?

You would need one hosting account. (Yikes, don’t do multiple hosting accounts for a project like this!)

You could use WordPress Multi-Site, probably in subdomain mode, so you would have chap1.mybook.com and chap2.mybook.com etc

This plugin would then let you map whatever domain name to chap1.mybook.com etc.

See my instructions on setting up WordPress Multisite and Domain Mapping.

Your client might want to consider buying one domain, e.g. mybook.com and having a subdomain for each chapter, e.g. birth.mybook.com and school.mybook.com and marriage.mybook.com etc no purchasing 200 domain names and no domain mapping needed (just WordPress in Multi-Site mode).
