Can't underline current_page_item without sub menu being affected

Hi,
Every time I try to underline in the CSS (see below) the current_page_item or current-menu-item the sub menu is affected the sub menu items also appear underlined.
.current_page_item {
text-decoration: underline;
}Is there any way just to underline the page you are currently on?
