After I updated to 4.2, I got a screen page that says:

    No Update Required

Your WordPress database is already up-to-date!

    <end clip>

It comes with a “Continue” button, but it takes it to the website’s home page. I cannot get to the Admin page, even after logging out and trying to get back in. I get the “No Update Required” page.

  • What I collected from articles… this might be a workaround :

    Reset plugin folder via FTP

Navigate to the wp-contents directory via FTP.
    Rename plugins folder to “plugins-temp”.
Create a new folder called “plugins” at wp-contents.
Try to login to your WordPress wp-admin.
Move your plugin from “plugins-temp” to “plugin” and activate them one by one.
Check if any plugin is not compatible with your version of WordPress.

    or

Navigate to the wp-contents/themes directory via FTP.
Rename current installed theme folder. For example: “twentytwenty” to “twentytwenty-temp”.
    Login to your WordPress wp-admin.
Check if your theme is compatible with your version of WordPress.
Check if your theme contains coding which can’t be executed.

This did not work for me. Please help.

Thanks! Your instructions on the plug-ins via FTP worked well.

It appears JetPack was out-of-date. Funny part was, while I was individually updating the plug-ins, in the dashboard was an update for JetPack 3.5, and I quickly updated it.

I can’t be positive the old version of JetPack was the culprit, but the other plug-ins caused no problems after they were activated.
