Password protected pages work for some users, and don't for others

I am password protecting a page. I test accessed it on my computer in 3 different browsers, and all worked fine. A number of my clients accessed this page without any problems, but a few report that nothing happens when they enter correct password and hit submit – it still shows a page asking for password to enter. One of these clients used IE, another Firefox. I can’t interrogate clients re: version, browser, OS, etc, because these are my clients: I must provide a process that is the easiest possible for them, with smooth customer service.
Does anyone know how to fix this problem?
