Slow loading of admin-ajax.php

  • The single occasional performance hog that I could find from my scans was admin-ajax.php which at one point took more than 10 seconds to load.

    What is there do to about this, how do I investigate this further? I’m not running WooCommerce or anything like that. Is it related to the Heartbeat API?

    It could be related to the Heartbeat API. Have you tried disabling plugins one at a time and see if performance improves? If that makes no impact, try running a test with one of the default twenty _____ themes.
