  • Have you tried waiting some minutes? Sometimes the alert appears but the importer is only waiting for resume. You can try to ignore the alert for some minutes and see if the comments counter increases.

I am also having this problem. The importer shows 130/130 posts have been successfully imported and 1/1 pages, but gets no further, each time saying that it has stopped unexpectedly. I’ve waited for the timeout to expire, leaving it for 30 minutes, but still to no avail. No comments (there are 1387 on the site I’m importing) get imported nor do the images and links.

Is there an update on this post? I’m seeing the same issue with the plugin. I have 349 post transferred perfectly but timeout once it gets to comments. Keep getting the message: “The importer has stopped unexpectedly!
But… don’t worry! It will restart automatically in XX seconds.”

Then it stops resets the timer once its run out.

    Help?

It seems that the blogger account was using Intense Debate and that’s why the comments were not being migrated over.

Ok. So because that step fails the balance of the process also stops?

I think it fails because all of the comments are from an outside source, so it doesn’t know how to handle that?

I am still having this problem. Does the plugin provide any sort of logging so I may see where it is failing?

I’m also having this problem. It always does posts and pages just fine, but then “stops unexpectedly” when it gets to comments. I’ve left it sitting for HOURS but it doesn’t progress past that point.

Some of you are able to check the Apache/PHP error log?
Can you see if the plugin raises any error?

There’s nothing in the error log.

I’m trying to import one person’s site to their installation on GoDaddy and as soon as it finishes pages it dies with this error:

    The importer has stopped unexpectedly!

I have left it sitting for hours (over night) and it never fixes itself. I have tried navigating away from the page and re-starting the import (which fixed this problem once before) and it just shows the error again.

I tried importing the same site on a different installation on my own server, to see if maybe GoDaddy was the issue, but it followed the exact same process. It imported the 377 posts and 15 pages in about 15 seconds just perfectly, then as soon as it got to the comments it immediately popped up with the error.

No PHP errors on my server or her GoDaddy site.

    How can I fix this?

I’m in the same boat. I have 244/244 Blogger posts that have migrated successfully. However, it is stuck on Pages, and I have 0/0 Pages to import.

Is this b/c of the new WordPress 4.2.2 version update? Help?
