What folder to install to?

I installed WP onto a Network Solutions server using their one-click install. It placed the files here: mydomain.com./htdocs/wordpress1.

This all worked fine, except the URL when you go to my site is this rather long name. So, in an attempt to solve, I changed the one-click’s directory to put the files straight into the htdocs folder, and you guessed it, same issue, page urls are: mydomain.com/htdocs/pagename/.

I just looked at the server, and the WP install is actually here: /htdocs/htdocs

Any thoughts and advice on where the files should be to make it all look a bit prettier?
