attachment image's alt text

hey, so I have a normal get_posts request, nothing special. In the response object I was assuming I would be able to find the post’s featured image’s alt text in the attachment object. It contains caption, description, title, url, but no ALT TEXT?!?!? Am I missing it?
Anyway, its a real minor thing, but this could make your plugin extra extra extra awesome.
