Anybody? I’ve been trying to get ANY facets to display…I’ve completely rebuilt the server, reindexed…and I just get the “ALL” on the left hand sidebar…when I click on it nothing happens.

It seems the facets are appearing as text in the results.

I’m selecting about 15 custom fields to index and, of those, I chose about 7 to display.

Also still trying to determine how to format the output results – remove the author, date, create a little spacing, or a box, around each result so that they’re not all crunched together.

    Help?

    Thanks!

For the facets, can you try to setup a trial account at https://wpsolr.com/solr-certified-hosting-providers/ ?
We’ll see if your issues are related to your Solr instance or not.

For the 2nd point, please open another ticket. I suspect it can be a long thread that might interest other users too.

    Hello,

I setup the trial, configured the plugin, indexed 1000 posts, and it’s still not working.

    The test site is here:

    jersite.cloudapp.net

Try searching for the word “remedies” – for an example, since I didn’t index my entire db. None of the facets display.

I will open another thread for the formatting ??

    Thanks!

Can you show me print screens of the 3 following screens ?
    – Solr Options -> Indexing options
    – Solr Options -> Results Options
    – Solr Options -> Facets Options

Here is a link to the images – it took quite a while to create a new page (see my new post…lol).

Please upgrade to WPSOLR 3.0, and tell me if things are the same.

Will do – sorry for the delayed response – I’m out but will try shortly.

    Thanks!

Hello again – yes, sorry to say, they are the same.

FYI – I removed all the custom fields from indexing options – the onlyy thing I checked was “posts”.
I left the results options the same.
I removed all facets from the facet options page except for “categories”.
    Reindexed.

    Same results.

    Let’s go back in time.

Can you remind me what is the history of this WPSOLR/SolR instance ?

Did it work ? with what versions ?

    Thread Starter trident60

    (@trident60)

Sure – it never quite worked 100%.

I first intalled an earlier version of Solr – I think it was 4.9.

And then I installed WpSolr – and I think that version was 2.6 – it may have been 2.5? This was about a month ago.

Then there was an issue with one of my custom fields – “Star Ratings” – so that when I tried to index I got an error specifying that field. I opened a ticket and you had me remove that field. THen I got an error for the next field. I removed that.

I continued to remove fields until I was able to index.

Then I ran an index of 39K posts. With about 12 custom fields being indexed. For display results I chose categories, tags, and about 6 of those custom fields – mainly the numbers fields – “version”, “last updated”, “number of installs”.

I can’t remember exactly what happened – I do know that the facets displayed but there was a problem – I can’t remember exactly what and I think at that point we may have upgraded to 5.0 and 2.7?

That’s as near as I can recall.

What are your SolR and WPSOLR versions now ?

    Thread Starter trident60

    (@trident60)

I’m using the Gotosolr.com trial – so not sure what version that is.

I have Solr 5.0 intalled in my server but it’s not running.

    WPSolr version is 3.0.

I just remembered what the initial problem was – the only facets we could get to show are “tags” – no custom fields and no categories.

I just deleted the index, created a new one, selected “categories” and “tags” in the facets options – and the tags are showing up…but nothing else.
